Step 1 - A representative of GPA, Inc. is going to thoroughly evaluate your property and compare your original insurance adjustment to what he/she observes as the correct estimate for your claim.
Step 2 - The information gathered in the field is then transmitted back to the office where a formal estimate will be written. This estimate is then submitted along with the signed representation letter to your insurance carrier.
Step 3 - The office of GPA, Inc. will then create a project workspace in our project-tracking platform. IMPORTANT: A link to this workspace is then emailed to you which you must accept and then simply create a password in order to access. Your new workspace will keep you up to date on all activity in your file by emailing you when there is activity. You can also add posts and files to this workspace.
Step 4 - Once your insurer has our rep letter and estimate, they will re-open the claim and assign it to an adjuster. This adjuster will either negotiate the claim over the phone or schedule to re-inspect the property. Typically, a re-inspection is scheduled where a representative of GPA, Inc. will meet on site and compare our two outlooks on the project. This should occur within the first 30 days.
Step 5 - Once a tentative agreement is reached, GPA, Inc. will contact you and discuss the insurance company’s offer. If you agree to this offer, a check will be issued which is often times mailed directly to GPA, Inc. This check will have your name on it, as well as ours, and that of your lien-holder. As a service, GPA, Inc. will get the endorsements necessary and deposit the check into our business account and then distribute funds to you as soon as they have cleared.
What happens if we disagree with the insurance company and their proposed new amount?
On occasion, we are unable to agree with the insurance company but that is ok, we have a few ways to continue our process and arrive at what is fair for our clients.
1. We will handle for you the invocation of appraisal which is a policy right you have and is intended to take the place of litigation. This process will be explained in much more detail if the need arises. Suffice it to say for now that we are 98% successful in utilizing this process and it is typically over within 30 days.
2. GPA, Inc. has well established relationships with law firms that do nothing but litigate insurance claims. If this option becomes necessary GPA, Inc. will refer you to several attorneys in order for you to choose the best fit for you.
